Ending a 22-Year Tradition of Producing Annual Holiday Cards

No, Virginia, there will not be a Slack and Company holiday card this year—or probably ever again, at least for the near future.

We are very sorry to disappoint the many hundreds—maybe even thousands—of agency friends who so often tell us they look forward to our holiday greeting every December.

But times change, and traditions change. We are going to plow the enormous time and effort that every year has gone into our unique holiday greeting into other pursuits that more directly serve and support our clients.

A View From Vietnam

I was excited to find out recently that I had been selected to attend the World Wide Partners annual Asia Pacific Regional partner's conference. This conference is the one time every year that the Asian agencies of the Worldwide Partner's group get together and discuss the current opportunities and challenges facing the partners in the region. Slack and Company attended this conference because of the importance of the region to many of our clients and our desire to deepen our relationship with our Asian agency partners in the group.

Everyone seems to be hyped about technology these days.

According to the latest IBM global study, for example, CEOs believe technology will be the most important external force shaping the future of their enterprise -- a jump from #6 in 2004 and #2 in 2010. For those who follow college football, many believe the 2014 season will mark the debut of electronic chips into the game, thus allowing coaches, fans and the media to track a player’s speed, course and movement. And in my hometown of Annapolis, Maryland, it was recently announced that Google opened their “Winter Wonderlab” holiday store at the local mall, much to the delight of geeks and technology buffs. Yes, I’m totally going.
